Ride Overview

October 21 - 27, 2012
Travel down the beautiful and scenic Highway 1, while enjoying stunning views of the Pacific Coast at every turn! From San Francisco the pacific ocean will be off your right shoulder as you head south through great cities like Santa Cruz, Big Sur, San Simeon, Pismo Beach, Solvang and Ventura.

The ride will leave San Francisco and will finish at the Santa Monica Pier with a concert featuring veterans and their families. The American Legion Riders will provide a motorcycle escort during the event and several Posts will sponsor rest stops and dinners.

 Due to the difficult nature of the California Challenge there will be a limited number of handcycles/recumbents permitted. The ride will be limited to 200 participants with a minimum $3,200 donation. Your $50 registration fee is applied to your fundraising goal. All healing heroes ride for free. There is an active duty Military or VA employee discount of 50% for full Challenge participants.

The Participant riders will receive a Ride 2 Recovery jersey, socks, and T-shirt. The donation will also include hotel housing, limited rider support, luggage transportation (70lbs max), daily route guides, marked course, rest stops, snacks, meals. (Please note that participants are responsible for their own transportation to the ride start and from the ride finish.)  There may also be nighttime entertainment on selected evenings

ONE DAY RIDE Ride 2 Recovery One Day Ride - Golden State Challenge Challenge
Oct. 21 - 27, 2012 - If you cannot join us for the whole ride, but would like to join us for ANY One Day during the tour.

ONE DAY RIDER PACKAGES

$75 - Standard One Day Rider Package: Price includes event t-shirt, mechanical support, hydration/snacks.

$200 - Deluxe One Day Rider Package: Price includes event t-shirt, mechanical support, hydration/snacks, "goodie bag", water bottle, pair of R2R socks, and limited edition R2R event jersey

$450 - Overnight Deluxe One Day Rider Package: Price includes event t-shirt, mechanical support, hydration/snacks, "goodie bag", water bottle, pair of R2R socks, and limited edition R2R event jersey.  Hotel included at host hotel (double occupancy, based on availability) the night before the ride.  Dinner is also included with the veterans with priority access to all nightly events.

$600 - Overnight Deluxe One Day Rider Package with Transportation: Price includes event t-shirt, mechanical support, hydration/snacks, "goodie bag", water bottle, pair of R2R socks, and limited edition R2R event jersey.  Hotel included at host hotel (double occupancy, based upon availability) the night before the ride.  Dinner is also included with the veterans with priority access to all nightly events.  After the event, transportation will be privided back to the ride start.
