Ride Overview

April 6-11 Don’t Mess with Texas Challenge
Everything is BIG in Texas and this event should not disappoint. From the start in San Antonio to the state capitol of Austin to the finish at the baseball game at Texas Ranger's Ameriquest Field vs. the KC Royals, this event will also feature visits to Brooke Army Medical Center, Randolph AFB, and Ft. Hood. Wounded Warriors from the Center for the Intrepid, Ft. Bliss, and Ft. Hood are expected to participate.

The event will feature a kick-off USO/R2R Event in San Antonio.

The rides will be limited to 200 participants with a minimum $3000 donation. Your $75 registration fee is applied to your fundraising goal. All injured veterans ride for free. There is an active duty Military or VA employee discount. The riders will receive a Ride 2 Recovery jersey, socks, and T-shirt. The donation will also include hotel housing, limited rider support, luggage transportation (70lbs max), daily route guides, marked course, rest stops, snacks, meals. There may also be nighttime entertainment on selected evenings.

Texas Challenge: Brooke Army Medical Center to Dallas/Ft. Worth

Tuesday, April 6
Day One:
Brooke Army Medical Center to San Marcos
Start at the Center for the Intrepid at Ft. Sam Houston and head north toward the college town of San Marcos.
Wednesday, April 7
Day Two:
San Marcos to Austin
As you leave San Marcos check out the stadium at Texas State. Football is king in Texas and you will be amazed at how big the high school stadiums will be. Head to the State Capitol of Austin, home of the Longhorns!
Thursday, April 8
Day Three:
Austin to Ft. Hood
What an inspirational day lays ahead of you. Ft. Hood, named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, is the largest US Army base and home to the III Corp. 
Friday, April 9
Day Four:
Ft. Hood to Waco
A tremendous send off awaits as we leave Ft. Hood and head to Waco. Waco is home to Baylor University, the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of Texas. In 1885, the soft drink Dr Pepper was invented in Waco at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store.
Saturday, April 10
Day Five:
Waco to Cleburne
As we leave Waco, great scenic countryside awaits on the ride to Cleburne, named for a Confederate General, Patrick Cleburne. Cleburne was primarily an agricultural center and county seat until the Santa Fe Railroad opened a major facility there in 1898.
Sunday, April 11
Day Six:
Cleburne to Arlington
You are almost there! We head north to Arlington (7th largest city in Texas) and the Texas Ranger's Ameriquest Field. The route will pass by the new Cowboy's Stadium set to open in Sept. 2009. The high point of the day come at mile 6, then it is rolling downhill into Arlington. In addition to the Ranger's and Cowboy's, Arlington is home to Six Flags over Texas, which is the original Six Flags.
